M3.1: Videos: OutChina – Menschen, Gesichter, Geschichte
Die Kurzdokumentationen von OutChina begleiten queere Menschen unterschiedlicher Altersgruppen aus der Volksrepublik China (VR China) und Taiwan und geben Einblicke in deren Lebensrealitäten. Insbesondere steht dabei die Reflexion des sozialen und familiären Drucks und die Frage nach dem Coming-out im Vordergrund. Weitere Themen sind LGBTIQ*-Aktivismus (ShanghaiPRIDE), queere Räume in der Öffentlichkeit, queere Literatur und Social Media. In den sechs Videos erzählen acht queere Menschen von ihren Erfahrungen. Einige von ihnen leben heute in den USA, um ihre sexuelle Identität offen ausleben zu können. Die Videos der Serie wurden zwischen 2016 und 2018 erstellt.
Kommentar: Die Videos dienen zur weiteren Erarbeitung des Diskurses um das Coming-out, welchem sich bereits in M2.1 angenähert wurde. Das Material ergänzt die textuelle Erarbeitung um eine audiovisuelle Komponente und erweitert gleichzeitig die Perspektive (junger) homosexueller Männer von M2.1 um die Blickwinkel homosexueller und bisexueller Frauen sowie eines älteren homosexuellen Mannes und eines homosexuellen Mannes mittleren Alters aus Taiwan. Da das Coming-out aufgrund der soziokulturellen Problematik in China oft bis ins Erwachsenenalter hinausgezögert wird, finden sich unter den Interviewten der Dokumentationsreihe keine queeren Jugendlichen.
